  1. Winfract v17
  2. This is version 17.0 of Fractint for Windows.  Fractint for Windows 
  3. requires Microsoft Windows version 3.0 running in either Standard or
  4. 386-Enhanced mode (the program is flat out too big to run in "Real Mode").
  5.  
  6. This file is only here to ease your mind a bit ("what, no DOC file?"). 
  7. Other than this file, the only documentation is in the on-line Help screens.

  9. By now, you have discovered that the ZIP file consists of WINFRACT.EXE,
  10. WINFRACT.HLP, and a few FRM, MAP, IFS and L files.  WINFRACT.EXE and
  11. WINFRACT.HLP are required to run the program and obtain online Help (and
  12. you *will* need to look at the on-line help, as it's the only documentation
  13. you are ever gonna see for this release), and should be copied to
  14. the same directory.

  16. The FRM, MAP, and IFS files are direct copies of files in version 17.0
  17. of Fractint-for-DOS and are only required for specific fractal types
  18. (if you already *have* version 17.0 of FFD, you can use its copies
  19. of these files instead).

  21. Just unZIP these files into some convenient directory, and either call
  22. the program manually using the File Manager or the "File Run" option
  23. of the program manager, or install it permanently using the "File New"
  24. option of the Program Manager.
